Alas. Once again, we were a little slow off the mark with this one…
So let me have a little ramble. I know it’s been mentioned a couple of times before, however, just to reiterate… I speak on behalf of Steve and I, when I say how much we appreciate the work we do. In no other job have I felt so much love. We are swamped in this incredible, powerful emotion. It hits you hard, yet wraps you up like a cozy blanket on a chilly day. It brings tears to your eyes, a smile to your face, and each wedding we walk away from, our hearts are that much fuller.
There is something about bearing witness to two people making open declarations of love to each other, that you can’t describe. But it’s addictive. And, again, we would like to thank all the incredible couples who have invited us into their lives to help capture such an important moment. THE moment. Where your family and friends, those closest to you, come together and celebrate your “you-ness”. The moment you have chosen (whether that be after 10 years of relationshipping, or after a few months) that it is time to celebrate how awesome you are as a couple. Your together-ness is nek level. And each time, we are so honoured to be present.
That being said, here is Sammy + AJ. Their relationship is nek level. Two people who were thrown every obstacle, and continue to battle it out, hand in hand. I have struggled to find the exact words to describe these guys, but I will try to do some justice to their love here…
We have known Sammy + AJ for a year now. They are adventure people (true to our hearts). They travel, surf and snowboard. Our first meeting with these two was in Russell Vale for a Warm Up shoot. This shoot happened only days before Sammy was to undergo surgery.
Just a few weeks prior to our shoot (after buying their first home together, and planning a super reno so as to have their wedding in their new back yard) Sammy had a seizure and was soon after diagnosed with a brain tumour (fondly referred to as Terrence). From that very first photo shoot we could see it. Each were the other’s world. Bonds as strong as this are so incredible. And they pulled us in. One hour spent with these two, and we were instantly friends.
A year on from her first diagnosis, Sammy is at the peak of her health. I’ve never been so inspired by one individual (one of the reasons Steve and I are on our way to becoming vegans). Choosing natural therapies, diet and lifestyle changes as her medicine, in addition to the love and support from AJ, these two have been unstoppable. A perfect example of two people only making each other better. To be even a small part of this journey has been incredible. Thank you guys 🙂
To check out more, the raddest peeps at Hooray shared this story. Can’t express how much these two mean to us.
That being said…. Enjoy some pics
